相信很多人即使沒有見過鬼，靠近墓園時也會覺得有點怕怕的，更不會想要在晚上靠近。不過在蘇格蘭的愛丁堡，卻有一座墓園實在是太陰，嚴重到甚至造成超多人昏倒…那就是Greyfriars Kirkyard墓園。

Greyfriars Kirkyard從1560年代起就被作為墓園使用了，不過它的惡名是從17世紀開始。而這一切都跟一個叫做喬治「血腥」麥肯錫 (George “Bluidy” Mackenzie) 的人有關。

Since the 1560s, Greyfriars Kirkyard has operated as a cemetery, but its history of violence doesn't begin until the 17th century with the arrival of a man by the name of George “Bluidy” Mackenzie.

血腥麥卡錫其實是名受過高等教育的律師，但這並不能隱藏他殘暴的本質。在查理二世任內時麥卡錫負責掌管處決查理二世的政敵的政策，至少有20000人因他而死。而麥卡錫特別喜歡折磨犯人、讓他們挨餓，最後才將他們砍頭。當時，許多他任內的囚犯在死前數週就在Greyfriars Kirkyard受苦了…

Mackenzie was a man of the most violent sort. During his life, he was responsible for the deaths of close to 20,000 of King Charles II's opponents. Mackenzie took particular delight in torturing and starving his prisoners before finally decapitating them. In fact, many of his prisoners spent their final weeks on this earth inside Greyfriars Kirkyard.

 

在麥卡錫死後，他也被葬在Greyfriars Kirkyard。跟他折磨過的囚犯們的墓地非常靠近。

After his death, Mackenzie was buried at Greyfriars Kirkyard in a tomb very close to the area where he tortured and killed thousands of prisoners.

但在死後，麥卡錫的鬼魂還是非常不安份。也就是說他常常在墓園裡徘徊，並且帶給造訪墓園的人痛苦。

However, instead of death being the end for Mackenzie, his spirit is still very active in the graveyard. By very active I mean that he's known for causing bodily harm to visitors.

 

當地的超自然研究者表示，在過去幾年內，超過170人曾在進行靈異之旅時在墓園昏倒，還有超過500人遭受麥卡錫的鬼魂攻擊…

But that's not all Mackenzie's spirit is known for. According to local paranormal investigators, at least 170 people have unexpectedly passed out during ghost tours of the graveyard over the past few years. A further 500 have been physically attacked by what's thought to be Mackenzie's ghost.
